School of Foreign Languages Holds Symposium on Talent Cultivation for the “Japanese + Electronic Science and Technology” Dual Bachelor's Degree Program

On February 8, a symposium on talent cultivation for the “Japanese + Electronic Science and Technology” Dual Bachelor's Degree Program at Southeast University was held in Conference Room 821 of the School of Foreign Languages. Attending from the School of Foreign Languages were Wang Yonggang, Secretary of the Party Committee; Liu Kehua, Dean; and Lu Weiwei, Vice Dean. Representing the School of Electronic Science and Engineering were Jiang Xuehua, Secretary of the Party Committee; Ni Zhenhua, Dean; and Rui Guanghao, Assistant Dean, among others. Participants conducted in-depth discussions on the program’s progress and outlined key priorities for the next stage, further strengthening consensus and charting a clear course for its continued advancement.

At the outset of the symposium, Secretary Jiang Xuehua and Secretary Wang Yonggang delivered opening remarks respectively. Secretary Jiang Xuehua spoke highly of the strong foundation of collaboration between the two schools in advancing the dual degree program and fully acknowledged the phased achievements and practical experience gained thus far. Secretary Wang Yonggang extended his sincere appreciation to the School of Electronic Science and Engineering for its support in curriculum development, faculty resources, and practical training platforms. He also expressed his expectation that the two schools would continue to deepen their cooperation and jointly promote the high-quality development of the program.

During the thematic briefing session, Vice Dean Lu Weiwei provided a comprehensive overview of the program's development trajectory, its current progress, and the priorities for the next stage. She also put forward proposals for coordinated efforts in key aspects of student cultivation. Subsequently, participants engaged in extensive discussions on such topics as the development of internship bases, graduation thesis design plans, the selection mechanism for students recommended for postgraduate admission, the overall talent training scheme, curriculum system design, pathways for cultivating internationally oriented talent, and the upgrading of teaching and laboratory equipment. Both sides reached broad consensus on resource sharing, institutional coordination, joint construction of practical training platforms, and quality assurance mechanisms, laying a solid foundation for enhancing the quality and effectiveness of the program in the next phase.

In the concluding session, Dean Ni Zhenhua and Dean Liu Kehua delivered closing remarks. Dean Ni Zhenhua affirmed that the School of Electronic Science and Engineering would adhere to the principle of equal treatment and provide full support for students in the Dual Bachelor’s Degree Program in their academic studies and practical training. Dean Liu Kehua expressed his appreciation for the longstanding support from the School of Electronic Science and Engineering and stressed the importance of further strengthening collaborative talent cultivation mechanisms and optimizing the training framework. He noted that the two schools would strive to develop the program into a distinctive dual bachelor’s degree initiative at Southeast University.

Focusing on the key dimensions of program development, the symposium featured in-depth exchanges and practical discussions. It reviewed the phased achievements, put forward feasible improvement measures for core issues in implementation, and reached a number of consensuses, laying a solid foundation for the sustained and high-quality development of the “Japanese + Electronic Science and Technology” Dual Bachelor's Degree Program.
