On September 15, 2025, a delegation from The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) visited Southeast University (SEU) on to discuss cooperation in interdisciplinary integration and collaborative talent cultivation. The EdUHK delegation included Professor Chetwyn Chan Che-hin, Vice President; Professor Xu Guandong, Assistant Vice President; Professor Michelle Gu Mingyue, Assistant Vice President; and Ms. Cao Anran, Administrative Director of the Graduate School. Representing SEU were Professor Liu Kehua, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages; Professor Cheng Si, Vice Dean; Professor Ma Xingcheng, Assistant Dean; Professor Han Yawen; and Professor Jin Jiahui, Vice Dean of the School of Computer Science and Engineering, among other representatives.

The meeting began with a promotional video showcasing SEU's educational philosophy and developmental achievements. Dean Liu provided a systematic overview of SEU's overall progress and highlighted the School of Foreign Languages' practical efforts in advancing talent development and China-foreign cooperative education. Vice Dean Jin elaborated on the disciplinary structure, key research directions, and faculty composition of the School of Computer Science and Engineering. Subsequently, Vice President Chan reviewed EdUHK's history and disciplinary layout, highlighted its experience in international cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, and expressed the university's commitment to deepening cooperation with SEU across multiple fields.

Professor Gu proposed several initiatives for collaborative talent cultivation, covering dual-degree programs, a joint supervision system for master's and doctoral students, and application pathways for scholarships offered by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. She also introduced the Doctor of Education (EdD) program and the “Xiangjiang Scholars Program,” which supports young scholars and postdoctoral researchers.
Professor Xu shared EdUHK's latest advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and educational innovation. He suggested focusing cooperation on cutting-edge directions such as “AI + Education” and “AI + Social Sciences” in response to the national “AI +” development strategy. Professor Xu also put forward specific proposals for jointly recruiting research assistants and conducting scientific research collaboration, laying a solid foundation for implementing future cooperation.
Both parties unanimously agreed to advance substantive cooperation in areas such as student exchanges, joint research, and summer programs, with the aim of leveraging their complementary strengths and focusing on interdisciplinary fields like AI-enhanced education, healthcare, and social sciences. SEU also shared progress in developing emerging interdisciplinary directions such as smart healthcare, language cognition, and intelligent learning.

This meeting has laid a strong foundation for deepened cooperation between the two universities. Both sides affirmed that they will use this exchange as a new starting point, accelerate the implementation of various collaborative measures, jointly promote scientific research innovation and high-level talent cultivation, and contribute new momentum to cross-regional educational coordination and development.
