Delegation from Mulungushi University of Zambia Visits Southeast University

On August 22, 2025, a delegation led by Professor Royson M. Mukwena, President of Mulungushi University of Zambia, visited Southeast University. Professor Qiu Haibo, Vice President of Southeast University, met with Professor Mukwena and his delegation. The two universities signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize their collaborative partnership.

Professor Qiu Haibo extended a warm welcome to Professor Mukwena on his first visit to Southeast University and provided an overview of the university’s development. He expressed the hope that, under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, the two institutions would focus on integrated medical sciences and engineering disciplines, and engage in practical cooperation in talent development, faculty exchanges, academic research, and the establishment of joint platforms. He also looked forward to strengthening people-to-people ties and mutual learning between the two sides, contributing ideas and insights to the development of the Global South.

Professor Royson M. Mukwena noted that cooperation with Southeast University represents an important part of Mulungushi University’s internationalization strategy. He expressed hope to leverage the respective strengths of both institutions in areas such as student and faculty exchanges, as well as joint research in key fields critical to Africa’s sustainable development, including renewable energy, infrastructure, and public health.

The meeting was also attended by representatives from Southeast University’s  International Cooperation Department, School of Foreign Languages, School of Medicine, College of International Students, School of Continuing Education, Institute of Area Studies, and Institute of Microphysiological Systems.
